American Idol Top 12

The top 12 performed tonight singing songs from the Lennon/McCartney song book.

Ramiele Malubay, David Hernandez, and Kristy Lee Cook are in danger of joining the dearly departed. Ramiele wasn't really that bad, but the performance lacked energy. The other two dummies just didn't cut it tonight. My money is on David Hernandez leaving us.

My favorite performances of the night were given by Chikezie, Amanda Overmyer, and David Cook. None of which I am particularly huge fans of, but they surprised me tonight and did a pretty good job. They should all be safe.

Syesha Mercado – Got to Get You into My Life

Randy – "nice arrangement"…"alright"
Paula – "midway through you found your zone"
Simon – "great choice of song"…"much better than last week"

I thought she did a nice job with the song…went with the flow

Chikezie – She's a Woman

Randy – "thoroughly entertained"…"Chikezie smashed it"
Paula – "the reward paid off" (because that makes sense)
Simon – "I am really surprised, I actually agree with these two"…"you took control of the stage"…"terrific"

Started off promising, but I really wasn't feeling the middle. Very high energy and he does get the crowd going. Did a nice job overall.

Jason Castro – If I Fell

Randy – "it was alright"
Paula – "I feel your heart"…"you have an emotional connection [with the audience]"
Simon – "the song was quite boring"…"not as good as last week"

He killed it last week. If you don't think he did, ask Jeff Buckley, and check out the number one song on iTunes. This week's performance wasn't as good but the chicks really seem to like him…has really cool laid back vibe…average performance this week though.

Carly Smithson – Come Together

Randy – "stellar performance"
Paula – "I felt like I was already watching a star"
Simon – "reminds me of Kelly Clarkson"

I like the song but not a big fan of her arrangement. I think she is really overrated. She is not the best dancer either...she should limit the two-steps. However, the judges and the crowd seem to love her, she will be around for a long time.

David Cook – Eleanor Rigby

Randy – "you can really rock out on idol"…"you got this"
Paula – "there is more than one horse in this race"…"you are a thoroughbred"
Simon – "brilliant"…"you could win the entire show"

The performance started off slow but he won me over towards the end of the song. He killed the chorus. One of my favorite performances of the night.

Brooke White – Let it Be

Randy – "very heart felt performance"…"I am a fan"
Paula – "this is your niche"
Simon – "one of the best performances of the night"…"believable"

I thought it was a boring performance, I zoned out in the middle of it. She seems too pure; I think it's a bit of an act.

Amanda Overmyer – You Can't Do That

Randy – "you rocked it out"…"very cool"…"I loved it"
Paula – "you are a star up there"
Simon – "not as good as last week"…"understood about 30% of what you sang"…"got a little bit shouty"…"you are like a breath of fresh air"

I really liked it. My favorite performance of the night. She is still limited vocally…very one dimensional, but should be around for another week.

Michael Johns – Access the Universe

Randy – "ok"…"a little sleepy"
Paula – "brilliant performance"
Simon – "a little bit monotonous"…"solid"…"good"

I agree with Randy. The whole thing was very blah. Should be safe though.

David Archuleta – We Can Work it Out

Randy – "not on point"…"very forced"
Paula – "wasn't your best week"
Simon – "a mess"…"your weakest performance so far"

This kid had one of the worst performances of the night. He forgot the words, sounded nervous, and couldn't hit his high notes. However, he has a huge fan base…definitely safe. Needs to come back strong next week.

Randy – "it was pretty, but also pretty boring"
Paula – "the whole world need to see what we hear" (gotta love Paula)
Simon – "I was bored to tears"

Was a tad boring…I really like her voice though. I agree with the judges, she has ridiculous vocal range and this song didn't allow her to show it off.

David Hernandez – I Saw Her Standing There

Randy – "overdone"…"lost from the jump"
Paula – "you overdid it a bit"
Simon – "no no no"…"corny verging on desperate"

He is cooked and will join the dearly departed. Worst performance of the night.

Kristy Lee Cook – Eight Days a Week

Randy – "liked the arrangement"…"50 50"…"kind of torn"
Paula – "didn't enjoy it"…"didn't get it" (wow a real comment)
Simon – "horrendous"…"Dolly Parton on helium"

She is in danger of going home. I thought she was brave and took a risk, but unfortunately it backfired. She tried too hard with the whole country thing, didn't work for her this week.
